Dat kan je niet bepalen……
Wij zijn al een aantal keren in Canada eweest en ik ben nog nooit een slang tegengekomen. Misschien heb ik ze gewoon niet opgemerkt…dat kan ook.
Maar: ik kom liever een slang tegen dan een beer…..want die zijn ook best groot en gevaarlijk……om maar te zwijgen van een cougar of een moose….en die rennen sowieso alledrie veel harder dan ik 8)
Ik denk dat je in ieder geval mag onthouden dat je lawaai maakt wanneer je in een bos bent. Doe niet extreem zachtjes, want “dan zien we in ieder geval wat wild”…..dat geldt misschien voor NL, in Canada kan het geen kwaad om de bos- bevolking te laten weten dat je er bent.
En mocht je een slang tegenkomen: rustig achteruitlopen (let op dat je niet struikelt!) en gewoon voorstellen dat er een slangenleren tasje ligt.

ben al vele malen in Canada geweest en heb er daar nog nooit een gezien, gelukkig!! ik was ook altijd als de dood dat we er een zagen, als er ergens stond kijk uit slangen dan was voor mij de lol er al af. Maar eigenlijk zou je er gewoon eentje tegen moeten komen, bij heeft dat wel een beetje geholpen want in Frankrijk liepen we nietsvermoedend een mooie route, ligt er ineens in de berm een dikke opgekrulde adder, in eerste instantie dacht ik alleen hé daar ligt een slang en toen kwam de schrik pas, maar hij was inderdaad veel banger voor mij dan ik voor hem en schoot meteen weg! Sinds die tijd hoef ik er nog steeds geen te zien, maar de grootste angst is wat over.
als je de standaard regels opvolgt is er nauwelijks wat aan de hand, dus niet met blote voeten/benen door hoog gras, niet je vingers in holen/gaten steken en kom je er toch een tegen, met gepaste afstand er om heen.
