Ik vertrek op 20 augustus naar Canada. En ik gebruik antidepressiva en af en toe een slaapmiddel. Medisch paspoort neem ik mee. Maar ik moet ook een verklaring meenemen via CAK. Is iemand ooit gelukt zonder die verklaring naar Canada te reizen? Is de douane erg streng.?

Voor een verklaring via het CAK is een termijn van 4 weken, dus daar zit je al binnen en ik ga er van uit dat je daarvoor al te laat bent en daarom ook deze vraag stelt. Heb je al wel de ETA aangevraagd en verkregen?
Daar kan het ook eventueel problemen geven in de aanvraag met betrekking tot medigijngebruik en kan dat ETA weigering leiden.
Het invoeren van medicijnen die onder de opiumwet vallen in Canada is strafbaar als je geen medische verklaring hebt.Op de site van CBP.gov staat dit :If you need medicines that contain potentially addictive drugs or narcotics (e.g., some cough medicines, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, antidepressants or stimulants), do the following:- Declare all drugs, medicinals, and similar products to the appropriate CBP official;- Carry such substances in their original containers;- Carry only the quantity of such substances that a person with that condition (e.g., chronic pain) would normally carry for his/her personal use; and- Carry a prescription or written statement from your physician that the substances are being used under a doctor's supervision and that they are necessary for your physical well being while traveling.
Uit reizigersverhalen heb ik gelzen dat er niet superstreng op medicatie gecontroleerd wordt en dat het meenemen van het medisch paspoort wel een vereiste is en dat je de medicijnen in de handbagage bij je hebt en dat (desgewenst) ook aangeeft bij de douane.
Geen garanties natuurlijk, maar het hebben van een medische verklaring erbij had beter geweest.

Zoals ik al aan gaf is het “officieel” niet voldoende, maar in de praktijk blijkt het in de meeste gevallen wel goed te komen, maar ik ga daar geen garanaties voor geven. Het blijft voor een deel toch een risico dat je gaat nemen.
